CBSE Board Exam Twice a Year From 2025-26: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan recently launched the PM SHRI) scheme, also known as Prime Minister Schools of Rising India scheme in Chhattisgarh. During the program held at the Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Auditorium in Raipur, Pradhan announced that starting from the academic year 2025-26, CBSE Class 10 and 12 students will have a chance to attempt CBSE Board exams twice a year.
During the initial phase of the PM Shri Scheme, 211 schools in Chhattisgarh (193 at the elementary level and 18 at the secondary level) will undergo upgrades following a 'hub and spoke' model by allocating ₹2 crore to each of them. The primary aim is to offer diverse learning experiences and ensure access to quality physical infrastructure and essential resources for all students.
Additionally, Pradhan stated that one of the major aims of the National Education Policy (NEP) is to reduce the academic stress on students and also to provide them enough time and opportunity to perform well in examinations. He also emphasized the introduction of 10 bagless days in schools every year to encourage and engage students in sports, culture, arts, and other activities.

Dharmendra Pradhan announced that, in line with the NEP 2020, students will be able to take board exams twice starting from the 2025-26 academic session. This initiative is in accordance with the New Curriculum Framework (NCF) introduced by the Ministry of Education.
The primary aim is to reduce stress levels and provide students with ample time and opportunities to excel in exams. Furthermore, students who take board exams will have the option to retain their highest score. PM SHRI is a Centrally-sponsored scheme with the goal of eventually encompassing approximately 14,500 schools.
Pradhan asked the students present at the event if they were happy with the decision. He stated, "Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision through the NEP is to ensure students' stress-free education, provide them with quality learning, connect them with culture, and prepare them for the future. This is the roadmap for India's development by 2047.
