CBSE Class 12 Marking Scheme 2025 FAQs

Q1: What is the marking system of CBSE class 12?

Ans: The CBSE Class 12 grading system for 2024 operates on a 9-point scale, spanning from A1 to E, where A1 signifies the highest grade attainable. Grades are determined by the relative performance of passing students, with the A1 grade reserved for the top 1/8th of successful candidates. Students achieving over 90% marks are awarded an A1 grade.

Q2: How will CBSE class 12 marks be calculated?

Ans: To calculate your CBSE Class 12 marks, follow these steps: First, add up the marks obtained in all five main subjects. Next, calculate the total possible marks by multiplying the number of subjects by 100. In five subjects, the maximum total marks available are 500. Finally, divide the total marks obtained by the total possible marks and multiply by 100 to get the percentage.

Q3: Is CBSE class 12 total marks 500 or 600?

Ans: The total marks for CBSE Class 12 exams will be 500, following the usual scheme in 2023.

Q4: How does CBSE give marks in class 12?

Ans: CBSE gives marks in Class 12 exams by assigning a total of 100 marks per subject. The CBSE Class 12 Result is determined by combining both theory and practical exam marks.

Q5: Does CBSE give grace marks?

Ans: Yes, CBSE does provide grace marks. If you're falling short by 3-4 marks in a subject, CBSE might review your papers more leniently and provide additional marks to assist you in passing.
