The National Testing Agency has officially published the JEE Main Result 2026 for Session 1 examination, which was conducted nationwide from January 21 to January 29, 2026. With over 13 lakh candidates competing for premier engineering seats, the result is more than just a number

JEE Main Result 2026 Out for Session 1

JEE Main Result 2026 for Session 1 is officially OUT, candidates can now view their scorecard and percentile online. Conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA), this year’s JEE Main exam saw over 13 lakh students appear for the Session 1 paper from January 21 to January 29, 2026. The results were declared on February 16, 2026, and aspirants can now check their scorecards, percentiles, and qualifying status for JEE Advanced and counselling.

This outcome not only decides eligibility for the next step JEE Advanced 2026  but also shapes admissions into top engineering colleges like NITs, IIITs, and other government-funded institutes. Candidates can check everything from scorecard downloads to rankings, percentile interpretation, cut-offs, toppers list, and what to do after the result.

When was JEE Main Result 2026 Session 1 Announced?

The JEE Main Result 2026 Session 1 was officially declared on February 16, 2026 by NTA. This result covers the January exam session and includes your normalised NTA score (percentile) and your qualifying status. NTA has also released the JEE Main 2026 final answer key simultaneously, and candidates can access both through the official portal.

JEE Main 2026 Result Link & How to Log In

To access the result, NTA has activated the JEE Main 2026 result link directly on the official NTA website (jeemain.nta.nic.in). Students can now login and check their scores easily.

Here’s what you’ll need to log in:

  •  Application Number

  •  Date Of Birth (or Password)

  •  Security Pin.

Upon logging in, the JEE Main scorecard 2026 will appear. Aspirants should download the scorecard PDF and maintain multiple copies for future reference, as it will be required for counselling and admission procedures.

Key Details Mentioned in JEE Main Scorecard 2026

The  JEE Main scorecard is not just a piece of paper — it carries the key competitive insights candidates need for the future:

  • Subject-wise percentiles (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics)

  • Total NTA Score (Percentile)

  • All India Rank (AIR 2026) – announced after Session 2 results

  • Category Rank (GEN, OBC-NCL, SC, ST, EWS)

  • Qualifying Status for JEE Advanced

This scorecard is essential for counselling registration, seat allocation, and even scholarship processes. Always save the PDF and take printouts before the portal is taken down.

How Is JEE Main Percentile 2026 Calculated?

Unlike many exams, the JEE Main percentile is not your percentage score. Instead, it shows how you performed relative to all other candidates in your session. Aspirants can also use an online percentile calculator to estimate their relative ranking and identify areas for improvement quickly. Percentiles are crucial for determining rankings and admission eligibility.

Here’s the formula NTA uses:

Percentile = (Number of candidates who scored ≤ you / Total candidates in session) × 100

Because JEE Main is conducted in multiple shifts, NTA uses this normalization technique to ensure fairness — someone in a tough shift isn’t unfairly penalized compared to an easier shift. Percentiles determine your rank, not the raw score.

JEE Main Marks vs Percentile 2026

Understanding how marks convert into percentiles is one of the most common questions aspirants have post-results. According to past trends and early 2026 insights:

  • 99 percentile roughly ≈ 160–170+  marks

  • 95 percentile ≈ 140–155 marks

  • 90 percentile ≈ 120–135 marks

These figures are indicative; actual values may vary depending on exam difficulty, answer key revisions, and normalization. Aspirants can use these insights, along with a percentile calculator, to assess their performance and plan for Session 2, if applicable.

JEE Main 2026 Toppers list

The 2026 results have shown an impressive performance across the country:

  • 12 candidates scored a perfect 100 percentile in Session 1.

  • Toppers came from various states like Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh, Delhi, Bihar, Odisha, Gujarat, Telangana, and more.

JEE Main Result 2026 Session 2 Expected Release Date

Session 1 results are out, but Session 2 results are yet to be officially declared. Based on official calendars shared by NTA and expert projections, the Session 2 result date is expected around April 20, 2026. Candidates should watch the official portal closely because the final AIR 2026 — which determines counselling and admissions — will be based on the better of Session 1 and Session 2 scores.

JEE Main Rank List 2026 and All India Rank (AIR) Explained

The All India Rank (AIR 2026) is not published for Session 1 alone — it is compiled only after both sessions are completed.

Here’s how it works:

  • NTA takes your best percentile from either session.

  • Combines normalized scores from all shifts.

  • Applies tie-breaking rules based on subject-wise percentiles.

Your AIR will be your official position among all candidates and is crucial for counselling and seat allocation.

JEE Main Counselling 2026

Once final AIR is declared, counselling is conducted by Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA). Seats in NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs are allocated based on:

  • AIR rank list

  • Category & reservation rules

  • Choice filling and locking

  • Seat allotment rounds

Counselling requires multiple steps: registration, choice selection, locking preferences, document verification, and reporting to the allotted institutes. Candidates should prepare in advance to avoid missing deadlines.

 What to Do After Result?

Here’s a quick action plan based on JEE session 1 performance:

If you scored high (>=95 percentile):

  • Prepare for JEE Advanced if eligible

  • Start branch/college research

  • Begin counselling prep early

If you scored moderate (75–95 percentile):

  • Evaluate Session 2 attempt

  • Strategize to improve weak sections

If you scored low (<75 percentile):

  • Focus on Session 2

  • Double down on revision & mock analysis
