JEE Main 2025 Session 2 Tie-Breaking Policy for Rank Allocation
NTA aims to effectively rank candidates based on their exam performance. When two or more candidates secure identical scores in JEE Main 2025, the NTA implements a specific ranking strategy to maintain the uniqueness of All India Ranks. The tie-breaking policy differs slightly between Paper 1 (BE/BTech) and Paper 2 (B.Arch).
JEE Main Tie-Breaking Policy for Paper 1 (BE/BTech)
To break a tie among candidates in JEE Main Paper 1, the following procedure is applied:
-
Candidates having higher marks in Mathematics are prioritised.
-
If still tied, the candidate with higher marks in Physics is considered.
-
Next, the score in Chemistry is checked.
-
Further, candidates with fewer incorrect attempts in Mathematics get a higher rank.
-
If the tie remains unresolved, fewer negative responses in Physics are taken into account, followed by Chemistry.
-
If the tie still persists, the older candidate gets the preference.
-
Lastly, if needed, the one with the lower application number is ranked higher.
JEE Main Tie-Breaking Policy for Paper 2 (B.Arch/B.Plan
In Paper 2, NTA follows the following procedure to resolve a tie:
-
First preference is given to the candidate having a better score in Mathematics.
-
Then, the Aptitude Test score is considered.
-
Next, the Drawing Test marks are reviewed.
-
Fewer incorrect responses overall gain an advantage.
-
If the tie still persists, the elder candidate is ranked higher.
-
Finally, the application number (in ascending order) is used to determine the rank.
