Who Can Participate in JoSAA Counselling 2025?
Applicants who qualify in JEE Main 2025 and JEE Advanced 2025 are eligible to take part in the JoSAA counselling round. The counselling journey is conducted entirely online, and candidates must complete all necessary steps by visiting the JoSAA website. For candidates eyeing admission to premier engineering institutes, the JoSAA 2025 counselling process is a crucial stage.
JoSAA Counselling 2025 Procedure
JoSAA 2025 counselling will serve as the unified platform for students aspiring to enter premier engineering institutions like IITs, NITs, IIITs, and other government-funded technical colleges. Here is the detailed steps of JoSAA counselling:
JoSAA Registration
Qualified candidates must visit the official JoSAA website to complete the registration process. Candidates must create an account using their JEE Main 2025 login credentials, including application number, date of birth, and registered contact details. Once the OTP verification is done via email and mobile, candidates should create a unique password. Further, they can access the JoSAA dashboard.
Choice Filling
After registration, aspirants should select their preferred programs and institutions. JoSAA considers candidates’ choices when allocating seats. Therefore, it is recommended to carefully mark one’s preferences based on a priority list. After submitting the choices, candidates will be provided with a 10-day window to modify and lock their choices.
Mock Seat Allotment
To help candidates understand how their choices influence seat allocation, JoSAA will conduct mock seat allotments. Based on these simulations, applicants can reassess and adjust their preferences before the locking period concludes. However, once choices are locked or the deadline passes, candidates won't be able to make changes.
Official Seat Allocation Updates
The final seat allotment begins after the mock seat allotment round. JoSAA conducted multiple rounds for the final seat allotment. Candidates can check their allocation status by logging in with their registered credentials. After the seat allocation, students have the following three options:
-
Accept the seat and exit the process.
-
Accept the seat and continue to participate in future rounds.
-
Decline the offered seat and wait for further rounds without accepting.
Fee Payment & Provisional Allotment Letter
Candidates who receive and accept the allotted seat must download their provisional allotment letter from the official counselling portal. To retain the seat, they should pay a non-refundable seat acceptance fee via e-challan or online banking facilities. Here are the details of the seat acceptance fee:
-
INR 30,000 for general candidates
-
INR 15,000 for reserved category candidates
Document Verification at Designated Centres
Once candidates pay the seat acceptance fee, they need to appear at specified reporting centres for document verification. For this round, it is mandatory to carry both original and photocopies of all required documents. The verification process confirms the candidate's eligibility for the admission process.
Following the document verification, eligible candidates will be provided with an acknowledgement slip. Candidates must complete this step to avoid cancellation of the allotted seat.
Final Reporting to Allotted Institute
The final step of the JoSAA counselling process involves reporting to the allocated institute’s campus. Details of the college reporting deadline will be mentioned in the allotment letter. Failure to report within the stipulated time frame will result in cancellation of admission.
