Many NEET aspirants focus only on the final score and overlook how the qualifying cutoff works. The cutoff is the minimum mark or percentile a candidate must reach to be considered eligible, and it varies by category. A qualifying score makes you eligible for counselling, but whether you get a seat depends on your rank, the available seats and the counselling round.
Looking at the NEET 2024 qualifying marks and percentiles for each category gives you a clear benchmark for your own preparation. With this reference, you can compare your mock-test scores, see where you stand and plan how to improve. PW Gulf’s online batches support this process with lessons, regular practice questions and full-length mock tests, so you can keep improving your performance as the exam approaches.
The NEET 2024 qualifying cutoff was revised following the release of updated scorecards by the National Testing Agency (NTA). The revised marks varied by category, with General/EWS candidates required to meet the 50th percentile and OBC, SC and ST candidates required to meet the 40th percentile. The qualifying percentile for General/EWS candidates with benchmark disabilities was the 45th percentile.

The qualifying percentile indicates your relative performance in the examination, not the percentage of marks you scored. For example, the qualifying criterion for General/EWS candidates was the 50th percentile, while the criterion for OBC, SC and ST candidates was the 40th percentile. The marks corresponding to these percentiles can change from one examination year to another.
Meeting the qualifying cutoff makes you eligible for the next stage of the admission process, subject to the applicable rules. However, it does not guarantee an MBBS seat, as admission depends on factors such as rank, category, quota, college preferences, seat availability and counselling results.

The qualifying percentile criteria remained the same for the corresponding categories, while the minimum qualifying marks were higher in Re-NEET 2026.

*Change is calculated by subtracting the 2024 minimum qualifying mark from the 2026 minimum qualifying mark.
The comparison shows that the minimum qualifying marks increased across the categories. However, this does not automatically mean that admission became more difficult at every medical college. Qualifying marks determine eligibility, whereas admission cutoffs depend on the college, course, category, quota, seat availability and counselling round.
The NEET Cutoff 2024 is a useful reference for understanding past trends, but it cannot predict what the NEET 2027 cutoff will be. Qualifying marks and MBBS admission cutoffs can change with the paper’s difficulty level, the number of candidates and the seats on offer. So treat previous cutoffs as a benchmark for planning, and not as a guaranteed target. What you can control is how well you prepare. PW Gulf’s NEET online coaching helps you revise concepts, practise questions and check your progress through mock tests. Keep working on your accuracy and subject knowledge, so that you are ready for whatever cutoff your attempt brings.
